Gustavo Miranda, pianist

He is one of the most exciting pianists of his generation. Gustavo Miranda has developed an international career playing in the most important venues of Asia, Europe, North America, and South America. Among these are the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre of Lincoln Center (USA), National Concert Hall in Taipei (Taiwan), Festival Internacional de Música de Cartagena (Colombia), Auditorio Salón Azul Huesca (Spain), and the Municipal Theater of São Paulo (Brazil), and others.

Miranda is the winner of the Juilliard Concerto Competition and is a three-time winner of International Claudio Arrau Piano Competition. Additionally, Miranda is the only Chilean pianist to have been accepted to compete in the International Van Cliburn Competition, where he was selected among the 30 best pianists in the world.

He was recently awarded by the Critics Association of Chile for the Best in Music of 2023, for performances including the complete 35 Beethoven Sonatas, the Goldberg Variations, and Liszt's Sonata in B Minor, which was described as a "solid and definitive triumph" (El Mercurio).

In 2024, he became the first Chilean pianist to perform Frederic Rzewski's "36 Variations on The People United Will Never Be Defeated" and was the first to perform the Complete Mozart Sonatas in Chile at the Municipal Theater of La Pintana.

As a soloist, Miranda has performed with diverse international orchestras, including The Juilliard Orchestra, The New York Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony, The Symphonic Orchestra of São Paulo, among others.

He is a graduate with honors from the Juilliard School of Music of New York City, USA, from which he received a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music with Julian Martin and Robert McDonald.

Miranda enjoys watching thrillers and eating traditional Chilean food.
